A two-year course open to BACP, UKAPC or UKCP registrants who have substantial experience of working with adolescents.

Duration:

Adult to Adolescent Conversion Course: Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with Adolescents is held on weekend days and a few additional days of attendance over two years.

Conversion Course Training Modules include:

  • The Psychology and Neurobiology of Adolescence
     
  • Essential Therapeutic Skills, Tools and Techniques for Work with Adolescents
     
  • Essential Psychotherapeutic Theory (Psychoanalytic, Integrative and Attachment theory) and its application to clinical practice with adolescents
     
  • The Body-Mind Relationship in Adolescence, Sexuality and body image. Eating disorders, self-harm, alcohol abuse, substance abuse. Understanding, how to be and what to do
     
  • Relationships with Self and Others in Adolescence
     
  • Adolescent Psychiatry
     
  • Assessment, Diagnosis, and Risk Assessment
     
  • Working Effectively with Challenging Behaviours
