With a background in hand-drawn animation and ceramics, Antonella is passionate about how creativity can be transformative.
She is a UKCP registered Integrative Child Psychotherapist who works with creative processes and the arts in all her work. Additionally to her UKCP registration, she is also an MBACP member.
Antonella's MA is from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) and she subsequently trained as an Integrative Supervisor at the Minster Centre, London.
Antonella is on the IATE list of Supervisors for most of their courses.
Antonella has a significant practice supporting, managing and educating many students and practitioners who work with children, young people and adults; she worked at Kids Company for nearly ten years with a wide range of different roles and responsibilities.
She was a Team Leader for Copenhagen Primary School in Islington for many years and delivered many different interventions for children and young people that supported personal, social and emotional development including creative workshops, clubs, Massage-In-Schools Programme and clinical work.
She worked as a placement Co-ordinator linking clinical work in schools and centres with the requirements of university training and education programmes.
Antonella supported the development of links between Kids Company and Psychotherapy Training Institutes: she was a member of the charity's multi-disciplinary placement team working alongside social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and other allied health professionals.
She was also a member of the Schools Programme clinical placement team in Kids Company where she was responsible for interviewing, placing and managing students in accordance with their training requirements as well as their potential and limits of competence.
Antonella was a Tutor and assessor on the London Met undergraduate course 'Communication Skills for Work with Children' for four years.
Antonella worked for Kids Inspire in Essex where, in her role of Integrative Child Psychotherapist, she integrated safe recovery trauma therapy to her work to support the charity??s most vulnerable and traumatised cases. Amongst her roles, she was their Clinical Coordinator, their on-site Supervisor (1:1 and Group Supervision - supervising either child, adolescent and adult work), and offered consultations and training when required.
She completed the 84 hours Certificate in ??Somatic Trauma Therapy?? with Babette Rothschild (2011) and she is passionate about Somatic Experiencing and bodywork in resolving trauma.
Antonella also facilitated Group Supervision at Terapia on their MA program and was part of the examiners' Panel assessing the students' Mini and Main Viva. She is one of the Trainers of their MA program, continuing to offer an annual Trauma Awareness Training weekend.
Self-employed, Antonella currently works from a room of the charity CoVo (Connecting Voices) near Queen's Road Peckham (well served by overground trains and buses along the Old Kent Road), where - three days a week - she offers mainly Zoom sessions (only one face-to-face sessions per day) to clients in 1:1 psychotherapy and offers assessment and parent-child work; she continues to supervise students, therapists and counsellors working with children, adolescents and adults. Her room is also used for Reflexology and Craniosacral Practices on the other days, as she hopes to build a community-based holistic service.
The rest of her working week is dedicated to her own creativity, as she writes and illustrates therapeutic stories for children and loves creating her own pottery.
